Description

Dive into streaming, or record your next video, in just a few taps – hone your scene, connect your camera, and start creating with ease – all directly from your iPad. Why not try the iPad version of the 2023 Apple Design Award finalist app today?

— STREAM & RECORD FROM ANYWHERE —

Connect a camera and mic to your iPad and start streaming on the move, and simultaneously record your video to built-in storage or a connected SD card for editing and uploading high-quality content later.

— SHARE YOUR CONSOLE GAMING MOMENTS —

Stream console games with a capture card to Twitch, YouTube, Trovo and more. Setup your scene with tactile controls that make multi-feed and PiP (picture-in-picture) simple to configure. Take your streams to another level with web overlays, and always stay in control with integrated stream controls.

— SEE MORE OF YOUR GAMES & LIVE VIDEO —

Connect your iPad to your portable console, such as a Nintendo Switch, via a dongle or USB hub and use it as a bigger, sharper screen to heighten your gaming experience when you’re on the road. Or, if you’re looking to get a better viewfinder for your camera, plug it into your iPad and use it as a video monitor through Camo Studio.

— SWITCH UP YOUR SCENES —

Quickly switch between a collection of built-in or custom scenes with a tap to help engage your audience or show a different shot. Each scene can be configured individually with different cameras, video and audio sources, and output profiles.

— PRO STREAMS WITH WEB OVERLAYS —

Imbue your streams with your personal aesthetic, or a professional touch, with support for web overlays from StreamElements, Streams Labs, Uno Overlays and more. Import template or custom web overlays, with live content, alerts, embedded control panels, and a wide array of other widgets.

— A ONE-APP STREAM CONTROL CENTRE —

Stay in touch with your chat, trigger in-stream events, and check on your mods, all through Camo Studio’s stream panels. Add exactly the panels you need – each is custom to the streaming service you use, and gives you powerful controls for your livestreams.

— POWERFUL VIDEO ENHANCEMENTS & ADJUSTMENTS —

Camo Studio comes loaded with functionality that helps you stand out. Easily apply a subtle “Bokeh” effect to your background, or replace it or remove it entirely! Adjust the framing and orientation of each input feed, including Auto-framing modes that help you stay in-shot.

— MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR IPAD —

Your iPad supports connecting a breadth peripherals, external devices and cameras; making Camo Studio for iPad the most versatile Camo experience yet. M1 and M2 powered iPads can even run Camo Studio in the background while streaming or recording, capturing the device’s screen at the same time, and can integrate with your Stream Deck.

— SECURITY AND PRIVACY FIRST —

Camo Studio transmits your video directly to the streaming services of your choosing, and all recordings are entirely local to your iPad, connected storage device or selected storage service. Your data is your business, not ours.

— NOT ONLY BUT ALSO! —

- Pro-quality video in a range of resolutions, including 4K UHD, 1080p HD, and 720p
- Built-in galleries come preloaded with backgrounds and filters to try in your videos
- Work in landscape or portrait orientations, great for TikTok-style shots at 9:16 aspect ratio

Almost Perfect, But Amazing Nonetheless

My current set up:
-iPad Air 5th Gen with M1 Chip
-Elgato HD60S+ Capture Card
-PS5
-Audiobox Go Interface
-A Samson XLR Mic
-A Logitech Brio
-An aux cable connecting from my tv to the interface
-Generic USB C Dock

I love this app! It’s something I’ve been waiting for since Apple announced their new line of iPads running their M series silicon chips. Camo Studio and the team behind it do not disappoint!

Some things I’d like to see addressed:

-Multiple audio inputs (or forcing mono input). I understand that there are constraints to the iPad and iPadOS. Given my setup, my interface can combine two different sources, that being my microphone, and my TV’s aux output, however it can only capture in stereo. So when I record or stream, my audio comes out with my voice in one speaker, and the gameplay from the other. I wonder if there’s a way to force the application to record audio in mono?

-My face cam shape. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I don’t seem to have the option to change the shape of my camera feed when trying to create a scene from scratch? It’s just the circle. I can see the option in the tutorial videos, but can’t seem to find them myself. This also might just be a me issue, but I find creating a new scene entirely to be a bit confusing to start? This is given I’ve used OBS Studio for years now on traditional computers.

Overall, great experience. I look forward to seeing where the team takes this app moving forward.

Almost Perfect!

I use this app to play games via consoles while on the go, as well as use as a monitor for PC/Mac. It does exactly that however I have two issues that can be overlooked or worked around but ultimately would make the experience better if these can be worked out. The first is input lag; which isn’t terrible, but it’s there. You can very easily play something like Red Dead, Animal Crossing, Sims, Civilization etc with little to no issue, but don’t expect to be playing your best games in Street Fighter or Smash Bros. The other issue is very minor and I would assume very easy to fix; and that’s the visibility of the status bar and info bar on iPad. While using this app the time and battery percentage are always visible and don’t hide like when you are watching Netflix or other viewing apps. In addition to that, there no way to truly go “full screen”. I understand that doing so would technically be cropping in and removing some data but in most games you simply adjust safe zones and HUDs are fine. I would love if I could truly fill my display with the input content and remove the status/info bars. I would rate 5 stars if that could be fixed. Input delay would be awesome, but I understand that is a much more difficult task to remedy.

Developer Response ,

Hey there! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such an in-depth review, we really appreciate the feedback and support! In regards to the input lag, it can highly depend on your setup and we'd be happy to hear about your setup and see if we can recommend some improvements if you reach out to us at [email protected]. We've also noted down the request to hide the status bar so we can take a look at potentially adding it to a future update!

Really great BUT….

This app is helping me get one step closer to fully using my iPad Air 5 as a full laptop replacement. I have but one complaint/bug I’ve noticed in the scene editor. When I import an image, such as my logo, I cannot fully control the size of said logo. If I try to change the size horizontally, the aspect ratio is locked, so every other dimension is locked in. I should be able to adjust the size of the logo image in every direction without the aspect ratio being locked.

I can easily use my Maonocaster E2 sound board for sound and my Canon M6 Mark II with my Elgato HD 60S+ for video, and it is all perfect. If I can just import my logo in editing scenes, and not have it aspect locked, we are golden.

Developer Response ,

Hey there, thanks so much for taking the time to leave us such a kind review! Unlocking the aspect ratio should be significantly improved in the next update for Camo Studio for iPad. In the meantime, you can unlock/lock the aspect ratio by either long pressing the image in the sidebar or in the editing canvas.
