Amazing port with one constant inconvenience
There’s nothing different in general if you played resident evil 2 remake (from here on I will abbreviate it to RE2R) from steam or other game distributor’s other than the iCloud saves and the iCloud option in the main menu and settings, for console players of RE2R, The most noticeable settings is the graphics which you can adjust to your hearts content. Now the one constant inconvenience Is Mr X/the tyrant. In other ports of the game (mainly xbox, playstation and steam), anytime you entered a safe room or he lost sight of the player and ended his pursuit, he would roam the building trying to find you until he heard a gunshot or something that triggered I’m to go somewhere else. In this port, if you go into a safe room or he loses sight of you and gives up the pursuit, he stays right next to said safe room or stays in one place and that really ruins the flow of 1/3 of the game as he can gate-keep you from going to one place or getting out the safe room, forcing you to get hit and use a healing item or force you to restart to a far away save on hardcore. It doesn’t kill off the game but when it does happen (I.e all the time) it really hurts the flow. So to the people who ported this to apple and Capcom: could you fix this consistent inconvience as It would turn this from a great port, to a perfect port. Thanks, and drink water to stay hydrated.
Good mobile gaming!
Runs better than I expected! I had to get it since the launch discount is so good. There were some latency issues at first that I couldn’t solve manually changing graphics, so I chose the performance preset option which gives no latency and a mostly smooth 60 frames on the 15 Pro.
Touch screen support for menus is an addition I’ve been begging for and it’s very welcome here! So are auto-fire and using the whole screen area for movement and camera if needed; I had forgotten my Backbone but I was still able to play smoothly because of these features.
One main issue I have is with Mr. X: he’s definitely broken. Anytime I duck into a save room or the STARS office, he stays right out there and NEVER leaves. I’ve not had that happen in my 5 years with the game on consoles.
Anyway, it’s RE2, one of the best RE games, somehow on an iPhone. 2024 is pretty crazy. Good port!
