RTÉ Radio Player 4+

Wow I decided to write a review because I’m so disappointed with this app. And when I went to write a review, I couldn’t believe the amount of other people who have the same frustrations and disappointments with using the app. First, it takes ages to load and then you have to listen to a really long ad. And if you come out of the app to take a call or do something else on your phone and want to go back in you have to listen to the same ad or another ad all over again. After a few weeks of putting up with this, I have stopped using the app altogether. I really can’t believe that our national broadcaster has such a poor app. And it’s so disappointing because Radio One has some fantastic programmes. I am an avid radio listener but I have found myself going to order radio stations now to avoid the ads. One workaround I have found recently is to listen to Radio One on a web browser instead and this means that I don’t have to listen to those endless ads when I first log in. Please sort this problem out ASAP Radio One. You have asked for our reviews so please take our complaint about this issue seriously.

Enjoy using the app, big improvements mean I make much more use of it.
However, the very recent introduction of adverts each time I access the app on the phone is very frustrating. I could be listening to Morning Ireland, CB or RT and a phone call comes through, when the call is over I have to listen to another set of adverts, up to 30 seconds, before I can access the programme. Particularly annoying first thing in the morning for the news. This happens each time I go to another app. Please get rid of this function.

I have reviewed before and expressed my frustrations as per all of the other reviewers. I have noticed a slight improvement regarding the ad when you tap the start button .. it’s not coming on as much .. a bit of a relief. I have said before … RTE should have a look at how Global Radio in the UK have set up their app … you can Pause AND Rewind LIVE radio. I often pause at the start of a programme and wait about 10-15 mins and then start listening .. and I can fast forward through the ads. I love the fact that if I missed something “what did he/she just say ?”… I can rewind a few seconds to rehear what I may have missed /misheard. I love that I can pause any live programme if I have to take a call or if someone wants to speak with me .. and I miss nothing. It’s the way forward RTE .. go for it ! I enjoy RTE radio .. this review is about the app.
