Exceptional service

I discovered my account had been breached through plaid and someone was able to take $100 on three different occasions for my savings regular strategically once a month on my third pay cycle as I get paid weekly and when I would transfer the largest amount into my savings so I wouldn’t notice because I use two other banks but capital one has always been my main one. I never really pay attention too much into my savings transactions. Just my checking. I discovered this at 4:55 PM called was on the phone with an agent by 4:57 PM. She was very kind and professional and honest she told me that she couldn’t promise that. It would be handled right away. They had to conduct investigation and average wait time for disputes 4-6 business days. Being that it’s Friday the end of the month I was a little bummed out. As a 30 year old male with a mortgage 2 car payments and 2 kids $500 is $500. I was bracing myself to get home and let my wife know that we don’t share finances be the more irresponsible one even though I earned a little bit more check my emails the light right before my cul-de-sac and I have one from Capital One tell me my dispute were settled and the full amount plus another hundred I didn’t know I had missing. I have never before seen a bank me with the speed on a Friday afternoon. Let me know they truly value my business. I will be closing my other two accounts and sticking to capital one from here they more than earned my business. Thank you.

You guys are awesome

First of all I want to say that capital one was my first and is my only credit card , unfortunately I haven’t been doing so well financially and I’m even embarrassed to call but regardless of my financial hardship capital one has always had solutions they never make me feel bad for not making a payment and sometimes even waived my late fee. I used to think credit card companies were bad when trying to collect payments but capital one has been so helpful to me since day 1 , I recommend everyone, I can’t think of one time ever regretting this credit card company, the customer service people have delays been friendly to me , never rude always transfer me to the correct people and like I said if there’s a problem they have many solutions and they walk me thru and even though my account is not at its best and I’m having trouble making payments that’s not thier fault and I am trying to get everything on track. I do wish I could pay off both my accounts but they don’t accept another credit card for pay off and it’s my mom’s only way of helping me out and that would really be a burden off my back but that’s the only thing I wish could change. Thank you capital one for being understanding and helping me through the hard times I promise I’m doing my best to keep my credit cards in track but things aren’t going well I appreciate the solutions and awesome customer service.

Great service

Other than me not receiving my replacement card (getting got lost in the mail, family member throwing it away thinking it’s a credit card offer instead, etc.) everything has been good. I had an unauthorized charge and that caused me to need the replacement card, but I haven’t received it. Customer service has been great and I love the discount offers that pop up on the websites when I’m trying to purchase things versus having to look up and see if the card gives me a discount or not. So I think that’s pretty cool. And whoever reads this review if you could send me an email, text or call so that we can find a better way than sending me the card directly to my mailbox would be awesome. Because I don’t pick up the mail and my stuff doesn’t always get to me. Maybe a home delivery where the mailman makes me sign for it at the door or something, or in a more official looking envelope that won’t get mistaken for a credit card offer. But if not, I’ll still be on the lookout for the card. I have recommended the company (investing) and the credit card to members of my family and friends and I think at least one has gotten a capital one card because of it. I give you guys an A+ on everything and the only problem I have is not getting the replacement card, but that’s not your fault. And if you guys wanna raise my credit limit a few thousand I’d be cool with that too. Joking.

Not backing me on a credit card purchase

I would really love this card. I’m still gonna give it a five however, I was in Europe. I was scanned by a bus company. They could have converted my ticket for the new ride time. They said they couldn’t do it because the Internet was not working. I paid them cash to get on the bus. They told me I could get my refund later when the Internet was working. I could not check anything because my Internet was not working. I’ve called Capital One multiple times to help me. They refused to give me my money back other than that this would be an awesome card. I can’t understand why a $92 fee for the money I put through on this card & they won’t honor it and refund my money. If they had done that and wrote a letter, then the bus company would talk to their employees about taking cash from customers lying, saying we could get our money back on the purchase tickets through the Internet. If they will not back me in Europe I don’t think I can take the card with me over there again. Because there’s always an issue when you’re traveling overseas people try to scam you. It sure would be nice if Capital one would help issues like this it would make awareness instead of the sweeping it under the table.

Stay away! Find another creditor!!!

What a complete joke! If I could give them 0 stars I would’ve! My husband was in a work related accident and we placed many of our living expenses on credit cards to just get by. After he received a settlement, we paid off all our debts including my 4 capital one cards. They returned the first attempted payment because they thought it was fraudulent. Called customer service and they replaced the bank account back into the available accounts to make payments from and we retried the payments. Well guess what folks… THE PAYMENTS WENT THROUGH!!! The money was pulled from our account! The amount was over $10k and capital one received the money. Capital one even stated that the amount received was valid and was a good payment but then they turn around and closed all 4 accounts down. Their reason for closing all 4 accounts? Capital one said it’s because I breached contract. I never did such a thing! I made valid and non fraudulent payments to my accounts! It’s reported to my credit now and showing 4 closed cards. Please for the love of god, find another creditor that will appreciate your longevity and payments better than this disgusting company. I was never late on ANY payment and NEVER had the cards go into collections or anything negative happen and then capital one turns around and does this? All I can say is wow! Please if you value your credit and your payments then please find a different creditor because capital one is NOT IT!!!!

Early warning third party screening for this huge bank??

I recently was screened by Capital One to apply for a checking account, been a customer for a credit card for 12 years and a money market for 5 years. I applied and I was rejected so I was like, excuse me, so I called and I was told my information didn’t match (despite my 12 year relationship with them already and having a money market with them for 5 years).

I was just told sorry we can’t help you your information doesn’t match what we have in our records. No explanation at all. I filed a BBB complaint for an explanation and I received a letter, not a call stating that Capital One uses early warning third party screening and that I needed to clear it out with them and that it takes a while to get things resolved but I was welcome to reapply once I fix my issues with them.

A big bank such as Capital One using a company I’ve never heard from and I have to share all my personal information with them so I can get my record straightened because they might’ve made a mistake? This sounds like a third party collecting information to sell to someone else later, it’s ridiculous that this bank thinks so little of customers that they don’t have their own department to screen their own customers, not potential customers, actual customers. So disappointed and won’t do business with them again. Only reason I’m leaving my credit card open is because you’re not supposed to close your oldest credit card.

Disappointed in capital one

I’ve got a checking acct. and a savings acct. with Capital One. I’ve paid off a $16,000 auto loan completely and have paid off about half of a $35,000 car loan. I have two credit cards with Capital One. It’s safe to say, I use Capital One for a lot. I recently needed two cashiers checks because I was moving out of state and in to an apartment. The first check came on time, which was the next day. The second check was supposed to be overnighted as well and arrive on a Tuesday. I had to move out that Saturday so I thought I had plenty of time, because I paid for it to be overnighted. The check did not arrive before I moved out. It showed up after 7 days. When I called Capital One to ask them to void the check and return my money because the check was now useless as I was now one state away and needed to get yet another cashiers check, they told me they couldn’t do that. They said that I had to mail the original check back and then I would receive my funds once Capital One received the returned yet but that I had to pay out of my own pocket to mail the check back. My mom was able to track down the check and mail it back for me. It cost $40. Now I am out $40 to mail a check back that was one week late due to no fault of my own when I paid for and was promised that it would be overnighted. I was about to get out a third car loan but now I’m rethinking about going with a different loaner. Do better, Capital One.

Unreliable

My special needs daughter received a settlement check from a car accident after almost 2 years. I opened a joint account and took her to the branch on Friday to deposit the check. The receipt indicated she would receive part of the money the next business day which was Monday. On Monday, the app indicated the partial deposit was available but the money was not available in the account so I called customer service. The rep didn’t want to tell me why the deposit wasn’t available and insisted I have my daughter call. I had my daughter call on 3 way during my lunch break and the next rep was even more unreasonable. He told my daughter in an unkind tone, “You’re 19 and an adult, if you don’t hang up on your mother, I will end this call!” My daughter was so upset she hung up on me and the rep after we waited for 10 minutes to speak to someone. After work we went to the branch and waited again because it was packed. The rep put us on the phone again after putting some notes in the system.
The rep on the phone asked my daughter if it was ok to speak to me and se said yes. He transferred me to yet another rep and after asking some security questions informed us that all the funds were now on hold for an even longer time than before. She apologized for everything but said there’s nothing she could. My daughter is so upset she can’t purchase the tablet she wanted before going back to school. Not good customer service at all!

Dishonest bank

I filed a dispute regarding a double charge on my Capital One 360 debit card. Jan 10 I had funds in my acct $85 to pay the merchant, the merchant swiped my card and the merchant stated the charge was declined, they swiped the card again and stated it was declined again so I gave them a different card from another bank and the transaction went through just fine. Laster that evening I received a notification from Capital One 360 that the transaction went through to the merchant. The next morning Jan 11 at 9am I received a notification that the transaction went through again. I contacted the merchant and they told me to contact the bank. I did contact Capital One 360, so they gave me a provisional credit after 10 days of my complaint. April 11, 2024 Capital One 360 reversed the provisional credit sending my acct into the -$85. I have proof where I paid the merchant with another card when the merchant advised me that the card declined twice on Jan 10 and never even swiped the card on the April 11th because of the declination on Jan 10. I have proof of where I paid the merchant on April 11 with another card as well. I called Capital One 360 to have the reversal of the provisional credit removed, they placed me on hold came back to the line and stated nonsense, they do not know why the reversal of the provisional credit was done, and they need more time put me on hold again and eventually hung up.

App”ic” Fail

Capital one app is a convenient way of tracking expenses and making on the spot payments. In our business it was a great card, with multiple users we made payments daily if not twice daily. Apps are made for convenience. However, with the C1 App there is no way to remove draft accounts. Some what Defeats the purpose of having a mobile App. We had someone break into our office and forge checks . Our bank(s) closed our accounts-as we have 3 dba’s. Just as our daily capital one payments were being drafted our accounts were closed. using the Capital one App, we added our new accounts- the only difference in draft account numbers were first 3 digits. The capital one App only shows the last 4 digits. So if you are traveling as we do in our industry, living by our smart phones, you are stuck guessing what account is the correct account to be drafted. Capital one closed our account and refused to reopen it. After 2 years of multiple weekly payments and 10 of thousands spent on the card monthly , our Capital one app failed us by not showing which bank account was which.

Make sure if you change bank accounts you are near a desktop to immediately change draft information because the mobile app will not allow you to delete accounts. We changed over 30 payable accounts due to this forgery nightmare. Capital one is the only card that failed us and closed our account- App is incomplete and still needs work.
