Nomad eSIM: Prepaid Data Plan 4+

Went to S. Korea and Japan

I was worried about how I was going to pay a lot of money to the “Big Red” company since they charge $10 a day. Then I stumbled upon Nomad and read the reviews, decided to check out their website. They actually have packs where their E-Sims will work in more than just one Country. It worked great for my iPhone 15, the only drawback is you don’t get a phone number, but you can use Whattsapp to make calls/ voice and video & texts to family and loved ones. (When we landed in S. Korea I did have to play with the network settings so it could search the network, but it found it quickly)

If everything worked… something was wrong

But it never happened. I attempted to use the service in multiple different countries over a years period of time. I’ve purchased at least five Sims from them, and every one had issues. Tech-support was quick to answer and ask the same questions, and usually not very helpful. Last time I was told to ‘get closer to a tower’.
When traveling I activate the SIM before landing in the country I was arriving in, and it would work for a day or two, then I would spend many days without service, no maps, no translator and no way to locate hotels. No tech support unless you can find a Starbucks or have time to sit around a place that has free wifi and wait for a response. Typical time to resolve issues, three days.
Yeah the price is great, but the last semi purchased 10 gigs/15 days and was only able to use .8 gigs in that time before the Sim expired because the service would not connect. The company did nothing except offer me their apologies. Which I’m thankful for. Would have liked a refund. Looking for a different company.

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty in trying us out 5 times, and it's troubling that all 5 had issues. Not very flexible

Perhaps my week was not meant to sail easily, but my esim was replaced and essentially deleted by my primary sim, which could only be acquiesced by Nomad upon reaching out to my provider. Upon asking Nomad if they could reactivate the esim to the right IMEI, I was given the option to take the loss or accept a partial refund in the form of Nomad points. It seems theres no option to return to card in order to force you to continue using their (unhelpful and clearly inflexible) service. Ive used esims for travel before and had a much easier time with other apps whereas Nomad one seems to show up higher in ranking due to influencer clout.

Extra Note: This trouble all stemmed from Nomad's automatic add and activate esim feature which did not work for my phone. Possibly bc my iPhone is older, but then that raises the question of their accessibility for all mobile devices. Be wary and do your own research before you throw your money away. Will not be using their services again.
