Why the RBS app?

Manage your money easily and securely:
• Apply for current, savings, child, teen, premier and student accounts quickly. Eligibility criteria apply.
• See all your bank accounts straight from your home screen
• Freeze and unfreeze your card at any time (Mastercard only).
• Set up touch, voice or face ID for better security and send high value payments in-app, amend payment limits and more. Touch, voice and face ID are only available on selected devices. Optic ID is also available on Apple Vision Pro.

Send, receive and access money quickly:
• Request money via a QR code or link.
• Send money faster with a personalised list of favourite payees.
• Split a bill up to £500 by sharing a payment request link with multiple people at once. (Eligible current accounts only. Payment requests can be sent to anyone with an eligible account with a participating UK bank and uses online or mobile banking. Paying bank criteria and limits may apply.)
• iPhone only: Get Cash in emergencies with a unique code without using your card. You can withdraw up to £130 every 24 hours at our branded ATMs. You must have a least £10 available in your account and an active debit card (locked or unlocked).

Stay on top of your spending and saving:
• Keep track of payments all in one place.
• Save your spare change with Round Ups if you have an eligible current account and instant access savings account. Round Ups can only be made on debit card and contactless payments in Sterling.
• Budget easily by managing your monthly spending and set categories.
• Turn on push notifications to get alerted when money reaches or leaves your account.

Get support for every life event :
• Spend abroad in Euros and US Dollars without fees or charges by applying for a Travel account. You must have enough money in your travel account. To apply for a Travel account, you need an eligible sole current account and to be over 18. Other terms and fees may apply.
• Get updates on your credit score and insight on how to improve it. Your credit score data is provided by TransUnion and is only available to customers over 18, with a UK address.
• Discover our additional products and services, including mortgages, home and life insurance and loans, in one place.
• Fast track your money goals with the help of our handy plans, tools and tips.

Important info

Please note, the app contains images when logging in that may cause a reaction in individuals who are photosensitive. You can switch these off for your device by visiting the settings menu and the accessibility menu where you will be able to find motion and visual control settings within the menu (note this is not within our app, but on the settings of your device itself).

Our app is available to customers aged 11+ with a UK or international mobile number in specific countries. Be aware some features and products have age restrictions and are only available if you’re over 16 or 18.

Good App

I love the recent RBS redesign of the App. I like how the accounts are now all listed in a compact list on the home screen so you can easily identify all accounts you hold. I also think the recent addition of the new account widgets to the home screen is a great addition to the App, the only thing I find a bit disappointing is you can currently only select from 3 widgets (credit score, spending insights and favourite payees) it would be great to have a wider choice of widgets to choose from, like a widget to access my debit card information, paying in a cheque, a widget that shows your round-up total you have saved and one showing your savings goals and how on track you are this would allow you to track all your savings goals from your home screen without having to go into each savings account and finding it separately. I would also love if you had an option for customers to make the app more disability assessable, for example I have dyslexia and have my phone on dark mode but I find the colour of the text within the App causes a glare for me, it would be handy to be able to select from a choice of colours that the text within the App could be. I find it easier to read text that is coloured orange, others with dyslexia may find text that is green, red, blue or even yellow easier to read.

RBS mobile banking app

I’ve been using the RBS mobile banking app for approx 3 years. I find it absolutely invaluable. It helps me keep track of my finances perfectly. I’ve been with the bank for over 40 years. Not so pleased with branches closing all over the country. Particularly the branch in Cheltenham. I kind of understand it but banks MUST understand that the public - particularly those 60 and over - I am 66 - find it really helpful to talk face to face with staff in a bank sometimes. Recently I changed my phone and used the NatWest branch in Cheltenham to help me reload the app onto my new phone. That facility was invaluable to me and I’m sure many others of my age group may need that service. I know I could not have reloaded the app myself do I’m extremely grateful that RBS customers do have the facility to at least physically visit a branch in Cheltenham - long may it continue. It would be devastating if that service disappeared. Have today (9/9/24) been to NatWest bank in Promenade Cheltenham and had Andy reissue the RBS mobile banking app onto my new iPhone. Firstly many thanks to Andy for his support - he was excellent - tolerant and patient. Very relieved to reactivate the app as I find it invaluable in keeping track of my money.

Works brilliant

I love everything but there are a few things that could be improved upon.
I like being notified of transactions, I can add other bank accounts rather than logging in separately to see balances. I can add store cards and set up savings goals.

It really is a good app and a good bank. Been with RBS for a long time. Their customer service is very good (except the one guy who was extremely difficult, condescending and just down right rude, so much so, he made me swear at him and hang up…then I complained about him when I called back) never had any other problems with them and that’s since the late 1990’s. They are always helpful (apart from that one guy) and really try to sort out any problems you have.

Things that could be improved.

I’d like to be able to remove payees. You know, that old friend you don’t like anymore, just incase I send to them by accident because I ain’t going to get that cash back lol.

Secondly, when I want to see past transactions. I find the date range selector very confusing. It should let me pick a start date and an end date. It looks like it does this but it does not. It’s not as straight forward as it should be. I think the option to type a name or company would be good. That way I don’t have to sift through pages of transactions to find what I’m looking for.
